Acrylic sheet foggy is due to daily cleaning or use of scratches, resulting in light scattering, the formation of fog, or contact with organic solvents such as alcohol, acetone, or long-term exposure to corrosive gases, ultraviolet rays (such as sunlight), resulting in material aging white. In addition, the use of rough fabrics or cleaners containing abrasive particles damages the surface. Of course, internal quality problems cannot be ruled out.
The approach will vary for different degrees of fogging. For light fogging (surface scratches or stains) you can use a plastic polishing paste, a soft cloth (e.g. spectacle cloth.) or a cleaning agent. Rinsing the surface with water is the first step in all cleaning procedures. Then after that apply a small amount of polishing paste and rub gently in a circular motion for 3-5 minutes, dry with a dry cloth, avoiding solvent-containing cleaners (e.g. alcohol). For deeper scratches or abrasions, use 800 grit sandpaper with water to lightly abrade the scratched area before applying the polishing paste, and polish with a polishing wheel at low speed until translucency is restored. If chemical corrosion or aging fogging is encountered, it is recommended to replace the plate with a new one, choosing UV-resistant acrylic plate.
Daily cleaning can also reduce the probability of fogging. Daily use of soft cloth (such as 3M Magic Cloth) and neutral detergent (dilution ratio of 1:10), stubborn stains can be used 75% alcohol cotton swabs gently wipe, avoid large areas. Keep away from organic solvents such as alcohol and acetone. Avoid contact with foam board when storing (release corrosive gases), avoid direct sunlight for a long time, you can paste UV protective film.
