Look at the surface of high-quality acrylic board smooth and unadulterated, low-quality board may have scratches, bubbles, particles or foggy texture (similar to frosted but rough process). Inferior board edges are usually not neatly cut, there are obvious burrs or jagged feeling; high-quality board edges are smooth and flat, and even polished as glass. Inferior board colour may be unevenly distributed, when the light can be seen inside the cloudy or yellowish (recycled materials mixed into the result). Or the acrylic plate to the light source (such as mobile phone flashlight or desk lamp), high-quality plate light transmission uniformity, no impurities shadow; poor-quality plate may have foggy patches or yellow light transmission. Recycled material made of low-quality board, long-term exposure to the edge of the easy yellowing, new board may also be slightly yellowed.
Burn the edges with a lighter (small area test only). High-quality acrylic is difficult to ignite, the flame is small, there is no black smoke when burning, and there is a faint waxy smell after extinguishing. Poor quality acrylic (containing recycled materials or PVC): easy to burn, large flames and pungent acidic odour, accompanied by thick black smoke (especially noticeable when containing PVC). Note that the test must be in a ventilated place, away from flammable materials! In addition, high-quality acrylic knocking sound crisp, similar to the sound of metal. Inferior acrylic sound dull, like a plastic bucket was knocked. Lightly break the corners by hand (small piece test). High-quality acrylic toughness is good, rebound after a slight bend, not easy to break or white. Inferior board is easy to brittle, bending may appear white marks or direct fracture (containing too much filler such as calcium carbonate).
A simple summary is 'a look, two touch, three burn, four listen to five fold'. Look at the surface, light transmission and colour; feel the edges to see if they are smooth; burn the edges to identify the smell; listen to the tapping sound to see if it is crisp; and fold the edges to see if they are brittle. Our red transparent acrylic sheet, clear red acrylic sheet, transparent black acrylic sheet and other acrylic sheets are absolutely high quality and trustworthy.
